If you haven’t heard, Margaret Qualley and Aubrey Plaza are set to star in Honey, Don’t!, a lesbian detective comedy.

Qualley is playing Honey O’Donahue, a small-town detective who is looking into deaths related to a dubious church. The news of this future movie is exciting LGBTQ+ fans and those who enjoyed Qualley in The Substance. Qualley has certainly been on the rise as of recently, thanks in most part to the success of The Substance, but she has been around for a while and has been brilliant the whole time. If you’ve seen The Substance and are waiting for Honey, Don’t to come out, check out these 3 roles of Margaret Qualley that will give you your fix in the meantime.

Netflix

Maid is a TV series on Netflix starring Qualley as Alex Russell, a struggling mom who decides to leave home and her emotionally abusive relationship in pursuit of betterment. As she’s trying to get her life and her funds together, she works as a maid for the wealthy in order to earn enough money to show income to put a roof over her and her daughter’s head. Qualley does such an amazing job showcasing the defeat, desperation, heartbreak, and irritation that it is palpable through the screen. You can’t help but feel utter sadness for her situation and it’s likely you’ll shed a few tears with her.

Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood

Sony Pictures

Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood is a Quentin Tarantino film about Sharon Tate, Rick Dalton, and Cliff Booth. Qualley plays the role of Pussycat, a hippie who hitches a ride with Booth to take her to Spahn Movie Ranch. She plays the role of a hippie during this timeframe to a T, really capturing the essence of being carefree, intriguing, and charming in her own right. She may not have a lead role in the film, but you’ll not forget her or her character after watching Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood.

Sanctuary

Neon

Sanctuary is a little different than the other roles listed above for Qualley. She plays a dominatrix who gets to tell nepo baby Hal (Christopher Abbott) what to do during their sessions in a lush hotel room. The film takes place during the course of one of their sessions and it’s more about what they don’t say or do than what they do. Qualley and Abbott are an incredibly complementary duo, bouncing back and forth between tricks, treats, and planning their perfect next move. Qualley is perfection at creating allure and mystique with her character, drawing in audiences with one crazy move at a time.
